Mangaluru: The Coastal City’s longstanding demand for a direct flight to the nation’s capital gathered fresh wings with IndiGo commencing operation on the Delhi (DEL)- Mangaluru (IXE)-DEL sector with an Airbus A320 aircraft on Friday July 1. While 77 passengers reached IXE on flight 6E 2164, 140 passengers travelled to Delhi on board flight 6E 2165. Captain Anubhav Banerjee helmed this flight.

Flight 6E 2164/6E 2165 will operate on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Flight 6E 2164 leaves Delhi at 7.40 am and with scheduled arrival of 10.15 am at Mangaluru International Airport. The transit flight 6E 671 leaves Delhi at 9.05 pm and reaches Pune two hours later. It departs Pune at 10.45 pm to reach IXE at 1.05 am. The return flight 6E 6431 leaves MIA at 2.45 am to reach Pune at 4.20 am. This flight in turn leaves Pune at 4.55 am and reaches Delhi two hours later. Both the direct and transit flight offer their own advantages to passengers depending on their convenience.

IndiGo also has plans to start flights using ATR aircraft to Chennai (morning), Kochi and Tirupati from MIA. The airline recently started a through flight to Belagavi via Bengaluru using a mix of A320/ATR aircraft respectively. Passengers have a layover of approximately 2 hours in Bengaluru before they board the flight to Belagavi and 80 minutes at Bengaluru enroute MIA on the return flight.
