Mangaluru: “Cattle progeny is low. It has to increase. Those who rear cows know its difficulties, but those who make speeches don’t know about its difficulties, said Deputy Leader of the Opposition U. T. Khader and added that the Government should give more than 90 per cent subsidy to cattle rearers and encourage them to rear cattle.
He was speaking after participating in the distribution of rubber flooring at Kotekar Veterinary Hospital to eligible beneficiaries under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan for the year 2021-22 in Ullal Taluk under Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Ullal Taluk.
“During the tenure of the previous Government, the Hasu Bhagya Scheme was implemented and cattle was given free of cost to many farmers across the State as well as in Ullal Constituency. This resulted in 8 lakh litres of milk per day in the State. Milk production was high. The then Chief Minister had implemented the free milk Ksheera Bhagya Scheme for students in Government schools, when KMF questioned the presence of excess milk. The lack of veterinary officers is causing problems to farmers in many areas. The existing doctors should take the Gram Panchayats into confidence and ensure that all the cattle-herders are not disturbed,” he said.
“Animals have the same right to life as human beings on Earth. Since there are no doctors, the Government has also launched a mobile ambulance and purchased it for the use of entire Taluk. The project has been implemented without any forethought. Not only have they spent crores of rupees without hiring ambulance drivers and helpers but also purchased an unused winger vehicle which is not used in proper manner.
