Mangaluru: One of the accused in the Mangaluru Prison Double Murder case has been remanded to police custody by the court, after accepting the plea by the Barke police, on Wednesday December 23.
Sharan from Akashbhavan, one of the accused in the case and a close aide of underworld element Vikky Shetty was remanded to police custody for 14 days.
It may be recalled that two jail inmates-Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty were killed by armed jail inmates and over ten suffered injuries in a major fight that erupted in Mangaluru district jail during breakfast on Monday, November 2.
Yusuf, wanted in several murder cases, including the murder of the then BJP member Sukhanand Shetty, was arrested in 2010 by the Interpol in Riyadh and brought to Mangaluru. Ganesh Shetty, a sharpshooter, was arrested in 2010 in connection with the 1994 Mahendra Pratap murder case.
