Mangaluru: A 79-year-old man escaped from a bee attack at Bola in Naringana Village, while two others were seriously injured and one was slightly injured.
Robert Kutinha (79), a resident of Bola in Naringana Village in Ullal Taluk, escaped unhurt after getting into a well, while his son, Royal Coutinha (39), was seriously injured in the attack and was admitted to the hospital as an in-patient. Robert Coutinha’s brother Joseph Coutinha, who rushed to the spot after hearing his brother’s cries, was also injured and is now recovering. Joseph Coutinha’s son Akhil was also bitten by a bee.
The incident occurred when Robert Coutinha was climbing upstairs of his house to remove his dry clothes in the morning. His son, Royal, who rushed to the rescue when he could not resist the attack, was bitten by the bees.
With the help of his son, he miraculously escaped from the terrace but when Joseph Coutinha and Akhil heard their cries and rushed to the rescue, they too were bitten by flies. Robert Coutinha, who suffered 150 injuries, got down from the stairs, but when the bee did not burn, he finally got into a nearby well, drowned and rose to his life. His son, Royal, also suffered 22 injuries and his face was swollen with pain. Though Royal’s wife and child were sitting in the sit-out of the house, they were rescued inside the room after being alerted by the family and they escaped unhurt as the windows were netted. Treatment for the injured is continuing.
