Mangaluru: Thunderstorm witnessed around Belthangady

Mangaluru: Around Belthangady areas Guruvayanakere on Thursday May 11 there was heavy rain, trees fell on the road and electricity poles were damaged, causing disruption to road traffic.

A huge tree fell across the National Highway near Guruvayanakere Pilichamundi Kallu and the National Highway traffic was disrupted for a few hours.

Belthangady Panchayat Vice President Jayananda Gowda, who was present at the spot, informed the concerned department and cooperated with the locals in clearing the tree. A huge tree fell on an electric pole near Belthangady Court Road Taluk Panchayat and PWD Residential House and fell across the road causing traffic disruption for sometime.

MESCOM officials, Forest Department, Panchayat staff rushed to the spot and helped to clear the electric pole and tree.

There is no loss of life due to damage. Bifathima’s house in Kuvettu Village has been partially damaged.
