MLA Vedavyas Kamath sanctions Rs 1.71 cr for dev of Kankanady Ward

Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has informed that Rs 1.71 crores were sanctioned towards the development of Kankanady Ward.

In his recent press release, MLA Kamath has said that to around 26 different developmental projects the funds were accumulated from various government departments, MCC, and from the Central government’s 14 Finance Commission.

A sum of Rs 15.5 lakhs has been sanctioned from the Public Works Department from which Rs 10.5 lakhs will be utilized for the retaining wall for the footpath at Pumpwell 1st cross and footbridge worth of Rs 5 lakhs connecting Alape Mutt main road and Raja Kaluve.

Further adding to that he said, “From the flood relief fund Rs 3.5 lakhs has been sanctioned from which 150-feet-long and 10-feet-wide concrete roads will be constructed from Bajal to Naguri.

He said that Rs 81 lakhs has been kept reserved from the Chief Minister Special Sanctions. From this, a public library at the cost of Rs 8 lakhs will be built at Capitanio Higher Primary School premises. Roads connecting to MIO Cancer Hospital will be developed at the cost of Rs 10 lakhs. A retaining wall for the bridge at Nekkaremaru will be constructed at Rs 5 lakhs. At Rs 5 lakh each a huge retaining wall will be constructed near the main road leading to Kankanady Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple and at Pumpwell. The pending work of Yekkur bridge will be completed at Rs 10 lakhs. The drainage system will be implemented at the Kuntalagudde Koragajja Daivasthana and Kuntalagudde Hindu Yuvasene office at Rs 6 lakhs and 8 lakhs, respectively.

As per the sanctions from the MCC Rs 38.73 lakhs has already been sanctioned. In this, the damaged retaining wall at Kankanady Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple road will be repaired at Rs 4.63 lakhs. The drainage system at Ganga Layout will be repaired at Rs 4.3 lakhs. At Rs 4.94 lakhs, Yekkur road repair, Sadashiva Nagar cross road repair work at Rs 3.43 lakhs, Rs 16.70 lakhs for retaining wall construction for drainage system at Dambel and for other developmental projects and drinking water facility at Kankanady Rs 5 lakhs has been reserved.

From the funds of the Central government, at Rs 15 lakhs a retaining wall will be constructed at the Naguri-Bajal road. From the MLA funds, Rs 18 lakhs has been reserved for laying the ceiling for Naguri Billava Seva Samaj Mandir at Rs 5 lakhs, pending work at Tailors Bhavan, Gorigudda at Rs 5 lakhs, Rs 4 lakhs for the pending works at Sai Baba Mandir, Rs 4 lakhs for a colony at Nekkaremar.
