Mangaluru: Women should vote for the BJP in order to get all the benefits of the Central government lead by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has extended a number of women-centered schemes, said Roopa D Bangera, MCC Corporator at a press conference held at the Mangaluru South Election office here on May 9.

Narendra Modi has initiated a number of schemes for women such as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, ‘Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana’, ‘Pradanmanthri Ujwala Yojana’ etc. 75 per cent of the beneficiaries of the highly popular ‘Mudra Yojana’ are women. The central government is working towards empowering women with opportunities for them to be pilots in Air Force fighter planes, removed ‘triple talaq’ to help Muslim women and has also brought new ordinance of death penalty for rapists of children below the age of 12.

But, the state government is busy troubling and harassing women, and the safety of women has hit the dust. 7500 murders of women, 3800 rape cases and more than a thousand cases of harassment of women have been reported since this government took the mantle in 2013. Women government officials were harassed and were transferred when they didn’t budge under their pressure. Sincere officers like Roopa Moudgil, Anupama Shenoy etc., had to suffer a lot under this government and Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis and others were victims of attack due to lack of security. The government has totally failed to provide security to the women and doesn’t have the right to have another chance at governance, she added.

When B S Yeduyurappa was the Chief Minister, popular schemes like ‘Bhagyalaxmi’, ‘Sandhya Suraksha’ and free bicycles to school going girl children were implemented. So, now it’s time to change the government which is against women and bring to power the pro-women BJP government she said, requesting all women to carefully vote for the BJP candidates and help them get all the benefits provided by the Central government to the State.

Corporators Jayanthi Achar, Meera Karkera, Mangaluru South Mahila Morcha President Dr Manjula Rao and Niveditha Shetty were present.
