Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel told the media that ministers Ramanath Rai and U T Khader should tender their resignations owning responsibilty for the repeated untoward incidents in their constituencies. Either the ministers should initiate proper action by directing the police department to take proper action against the culprits or quit, he reiterated.

Citing several untoward incidents in Ullala and Bantwal constituencies, he questioned who should be held responsible for the spate of murders from Jaleel Karopady to RSS activist Sharath. Despite Jaleel’s father accusing an individual of the murder why police have not arrested anybody, he asked.

He charged that due to the interference of state ministers in police affairs, the violence was aggravating and the real culprits had been not arrested. The ministers’ attitudes in the case had given a boost to the miscreants to commit more crimes, he alleged. Congress government has failed to arrest the real culprits and instead is indulged in the appeasement of one community putting the district in trouble, he added.

He also clarified that the BJP representatives would not join the peace committee meeting until the accused in Sharath’s murder case was arrested. “Government have booked the BJP leaders having no connection in stone pelting and these cases should be withdrawn. Congress is making an effort to curb the political career of BJP leaders. If the BJP leaders are arrested, the state government is directly responsible for further consequences”, he threatened.

Nalin also said that he had requested Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to put National Investigation Agency (NIA) in charge of the probe in the clashes in Dakshina Kannada and accused chief minister Siddaramaiah was not ready to hand over the cases to the agency fearing that Congress’ true colours would be exposed.

Bantwal BJP to compensate slain Sharat’s family

The Bantwal BJP will provide Rs 5 Lakh to slain RSS activist Sharath’s family in an initiative by him, said Nalin Kumar Kateel.

BJP District President Sanjeeva Matandoor, Monappa Bhandary and others were present.
