Mangaluru: ADGP Alok Mohan told the media that the police had got vital leads in the murder of RSS activist Sharath and very soon the culprits would be nabbed. Already special investigation teams are working on it, he added.
“The regular life of people in the Bantwal Taluk is normal and peace has been restored in Bantwal Taluk. No untoward incidents have repeated since two days. For all the murder cases, police have formed special investigative teams to nab the culprits. It may take time to arrest the culprits but police are striving hard to bring the criminals before the law. These spate of murders have challenged our professionalism and we have taken it up,” he said.
On stone pelting incidents in Bantwal, ADGP said already six cases had been booked in this connection and 17 people arrested.
On extending Section 144 to taluks like Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia, he said the ultimate aim of the police department and district administration was to ensure peace in the society. With the section, normal life will not be affected but the miscreants will be under pressure, he added.
On the allegation of BJP leader Satyajith Surathkal’s wife that police had raided their residence during midnight citing that he was innocent leading the funeral procession having no connection to stone pelting incident, ADGP said that police have registered a case but no chargesheet had been filed yet. No innocent will be victimised and no criminal will be spared, he asserted.
IGP Harishekaran, Police Commissioner T R Suresh and Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Reddy was present.
