Mangaluru: The suspicious activity of a stranger inquiring the whereabouts of Prof. Narendra Nayak has raised fears that there may be a plot to assassinate him. Prof. Narendra Nayak is the National President of the Federation of Indian Rationalists Association (FIRA) and has been harassed for his staunch rationalist view and condemnation of superstitious practices.
When investigations into the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh are still in the limelight, the latest news has raised many an eyebrow.
It is gathered that when Narendra Nayak was out of town, an unidentified man visited his apartment and started asking the security guard’s wife about him. When the security guard, who was nearby, noticed the man and approached to find out what was happening, the suspicious individual fled the spot.
The security guard immediately brought the issue to Nayak’s attention and a complaint was filed with the police.
When reached for a comment, Narendra Nayak confirmed that the incident did indeed occur.
It can be recalled that a few months ago, Prof. Narendra Nayak had filed a complaint with the Urwa Police Station stating that two bike-borne miscreants were stalking him.
