Mangaluru: App-based taxi service Ola has gotten the go-ahead to commence its cab operations at the airport amidst the conflict between online cab companies and airport taxi operators for the passengers at the Mangalore International Airport.
This decision was taken on the basis of a Supreme Court directive that app-based taxi services need to be started at all international airports while keeping the safety and convenience of the passengers in view.
The Dakshina Kannada District Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association Honorary President B K Imthiyaz has stated the start of Ola services at the airport as a victory for app-based taxi aggregators.
Prior to this, there was a clash on November 7 between the online and airport taxi aggregators near the exit of the airport and several people had sustained injuries in the altercation.
