Mangalore: The City Crime Branch (CCB) has made a significant stride by capturing a notorious fugitive who successfully evaded legal proceedings for nearly two decades, avoiding court appearances in diverse cases. The individual, on the run for about 20 years, is currently under the custody of Mangalore CCB Police.
Mohammad Nausad, also known as Ullanje Nausad (28), had evaded court hearings for years despite being implicated in four cases, including the high-profile Deepak Rao murder case. Despite being granted bail, he failed to appear for court proceedings. He was eventually apprehended by Kerala’s Kasaragod Police and transferred to Surathkal Police for legal procedures. His criminal record includes murder, assault, attempted murder of police officers, and involvement in an illegal pox vaccine racket.
The operation was led by CCB personnel, with support from dedicated officers under ACP P A Hegde’s leadership, under the vigilant supervision of Inspectors Shyam Sundar H E and Sharannappa Bhandary, with valuable support from other diligent CCB officers.
