Bantwal: Police of the Dakshina Kannada district recently arrested a Bantwal resident for allegedly illegally entering the district from Kerala during the lockdown and booked him for attempting to spread infection. He has been quarantined.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Ashraf, a resident of Pudu in the Bantwal taluk.
According to a press statement released by the police, Mohammed Ashraf was working in the Malappuram district of Kerala. He allegedly travelled from to Mangaluru on April 11 by truck and stayed with his relatives in Bollai-Sajipa Muda.
The Bantwal police spring into action, arrested and quarantined Ashraf when they received a tip-off from the residents of the village.
Informing that Ashraf has been quarantined in a hospital, the police added that he has been booked under sections 269 and 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for violating the government orders amid the COVID-19 scare.
It has been 11 days since the Dakshina Kannada district reported a positive COVID-19 case. Of the 12 confirmed cases that were there in the district, nine have made a full recovery and have been discharged.
