Police suspect BJP leader’s role in stone pelting during Sharath’s funeral?

Mangaluru: Police suspect the role of state BJP Backward Classes wing General Secretary Satyajit Suratkal’s role in the stone pelting incidents during the funeral procession of slain RSS activist Sharat Madivala on July 8.

According to the sources, police raided Satyajit’s residence last night to nab him after gathering substantial evidence but it is gathered he managed to escape. Satyajit is said to have conspired the stone-pelting during the funeral.

There is a suspicion that a person from Suratkal is behind stone pelting incident and the hunt is on to trace the accused, said Sudhir Kumar Reddy, Dakshina Kannda Superintendent of Police.

Satyajit was earlier a strong leader of the Hindu Jagran Forum.

Chief Minister unhappy!

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is unhappy with the senior police officials and instructed them to sit in police stations and not in their respective offices till normalcy is restored.

He expressed his views during a meeting with state police officials and asked them to convene a meeting of local leaders to restore peace.

“Do not sit down at the office and direct the staff,” CM is learnt to have told the police officials.
