Mangaluru: Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha is again in news for his kind-heartedness as he apologised for the mistake of his subordinate officers, who deployed a pregnant woman police constable for bandobast during Deputy Chief Minister’s visit to the city, two days ago.

A picture of a pregnant woman in her Khaki deputed on duty near Mulki bus station went viral on social media. Public questioned the move of the police department on social media as to why the police constable who is evidently in the third trimester of her pregnancy was given such a duty.

When Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha came to know about the incident through social media, he apologised instantly, despite his sub-ordinates having deputed the lady on duty.

He informed that he felt pained not as the Commissioner of Police, but as a concerned citizen. He also informed that he would make sure that such episodes do not happen in future. Meanwhile, he questioned Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for not sending the woman constable on leave and directed him to do so forthwith. He also directed the ACP to ensure that the Mulki police inspector submits a written explanation in this regard immediately.
