Mangaluru: The commuters who use National Highway have launched a twitter campaign with hashtag #SaveNH75 owing to the pathetic condition of the NH-75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
Due to this pathetic condition of the road, the journey of 350 km between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, which usually takes six to seven hours, now takes not less than 10 to 12 hours.
As it is the festive season of Deepavali, the traffic too has increased in the last few days with people heading to Mangaluru from Bengaluru.
Minister JC Madhuswamy also witnessed the sorry status of the road as his SUV got stuck in slush at Belthangady taluk on Saturday, Octobre 26. After this, many have demanded the immediate intervention of the central and state government to repair the stretch as soon as possible. Many people have commented and invited Union Transport Nithin Gadkari to travel on NH 75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru in order to witness the condition of the road.
Due to the huge potholes on the stretch, especially between BC Road and Sakleshpur, travelling during the night has become very risky. The incomplete road widening works have added to the agony of the people. As bullet tankers, goods trucks and luxury buses travel on this stretch, traffic jams have become common here.
However, the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) express their helplessness and claim that due to heavy rain their hands are tied.
