Priest nabbed in Sullia temple heist; valuables recovered

Sullia: A temple priest accused of stealing gold ornaments from the temple has been arrested and the stolen items have been recovered, said Sullia inspector V Krishnaiah here on Saturday. Murali Venkatesha(30) is the arrested.
The temple adminstrator had complained to the Subramanya police. In the complaint it was stated that the theft occured between February 2 to July 15 and 32 gold rings and a chain was stolen.

Police after taking up investigation took the temple priest who was at large into custody from Bengaluru. While interrogation, the priest confessed to have involved in the theft. The stolen items were pledged by the accused in co-operative societies and finace companies in Subramanya, Sullia, Bellare and Puttur.

The accused has been produced before the court and has been taken into police custody for more investigation.
