Mangaluru: The private buses owners association has decided not to operate in the district till the end of May.
A meeting between the RTO and the members of the Dakshina Kannada district Private Bus Owners Association was held on Tuesday, May 19, where the latter put forth several demands like a waiver of road tax for the next six months, revisited bus fare, compensation of Rs 5000 for each bus worker etc. However, the meeting failed to convince the association or fulfil their demands.
Hence, the bus operators association has decided not to run the buses until the end of May. It is not even sure if the private buses will operate from June 1. During the meeting, the association members informed the RTO that they are not ready to start their services even from June if their demands are not fulfilled.
