Mangaluru: The Economic and Narcotics Crime police busted an online prostitution racket and arrested two persons in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, they rescued three women who are from outside the state.
The arrested have been identified as Ivan Cyril Pinto alias Pavan (35), a resident of Modankapu in Bantwal taluk and Sathish Acharya (31) of Yeyyadi. According to the police sources, the accused were running their racket in an apartment located near Nanthoor junction. Based on credible information, a team of police headed by Economic and Narcotics Crime Inspector Ramakrishna K K rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. During the interrogation, the accused confessed that they were networking online, using the photographs of women. Police also seized mobile phones and Rs 23,500 cash from their possession.
The accused will be produced before the court, police sources informed.
