Dharmasthala: “If people from the political fraternity believe that God exists within them, only then can that person conduct a prompt and honest administration in politics,” said former Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Addressing the gathering on Tuesday, November 25, after inaugurating the 87th Sarvadharma Sammelana (all-religion meet) organized on the occasion of Dharmasthala Laksha Deepotsava, she said, “It is wrong to think that ‘corruption’ and ‘politics’ are inseparable. If one quits doing wrong deeds and begins identifying oneself with good company, nothing is impossible. In fact, this is what all religions and their scriptures teach.”

Quoting lines from the ‘Bhagavad Gita’, the former LS speaker said, “One should stop indulging in selfish deeds and work for others. Public service is itself a religion and the one who works for the society is a sage. One should think of a better life and future instead of a better income. Inner light should always enkindle.”

Lifestyle coach and motivational speaker, Gaur Gopal Das, who presided over the programme, said, “Living life to its fullest is more important than earning something. One cannot buy more time with an expensive clock. It’s in our hands to select happiness and life filled with love. A mere fool can also develop hatred. But it is possible only for a person with a good soul to love everybody.”

“It is very important to know who influences us. As much as possible, we need to indulge ourselves in positive thinking. The answer for numerous questions, from life till death, is only achieved with positive thinking,” he added.

Later, sessions on life skills were given by eminent scholars.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade welcomed the gathering.

Hemavathi Heggade, Surendra Kumar, Dr S Prabhakar and others were present.
