Radio Sarang’s ‘Antarabelaku’ bags national award

Mangaluru: The Community Radio Sarang 107.8 FM at St Aloysius College ( Autonomous), Mangaluru recently received the national award under the most creative and innovative category for its programme ‘Antarabelaku’.

Director of Radio Sarang, Rev Dr Melwyn Pinto SJ received the award from Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi.

Radio Sarang has previously bagged several national awards for promoting the local language and culture. It has been able to reach thousands of rural, poor and uneducated people of the coastal districts of the state such as Udupi and Dakshina Kannada and even Kasargod. It continues to bring various communities together and showcases their various talents in the local culture, drama, Yakshagana, music and festivities. The radio station also addresses issues such as the environment and health of women and children.
