Dr. Akhter Husain, professor emeritus at Yenepoya University in Mangalore, renowned for his expertise in orthodontics and craniofacial anomalies, has ventured into the realm of art with a series of approximately 20 abstract paintings inspired by the Vedas. Titled ‘Vedic Inspiration,’ his artwork captures the essence of Vedic society with a vibrant display of colors and a fusion of elements from Indian Vedic Hindu culture.
The series has garnered attention from the jury at the London International Creative Competition, who have identified its potential for recognition and accolades. Dr. Akhter expressed his inspiration, stating, “Hinduism encompasses a rich tapestry of practices, rituals, and beliefs, reflecting a diverse cultural heritage. This series of artworks encapsulates the ethos of a Vedic society, exuding vibrancy and offering a captivating portrayal of this multifaceted cultural landscape.”
An associate of the Royal Photographic Society Bath, UK, Dr. Akhter has pioneered clinical photography in India, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and artistic vision to his endeavors. Utilizing various media in his artistic pursuits, he embraces innovation and experimentation. His works have been showcased in prestigious exhibitions such as Art Basel in Switzerland, Chitrakala Parishad in Bengaluru, and the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
Furthermore, Dr. Akhter has been selected to represent India in the upcoming World Art Exhibition in Dubai, scheduled from May 1 to 5, showcasing the global recognition and appeal of his distinctive artistic expressions.
