The Rotary District of 3181 recently organized the “Rotary on Wheels” programme across four revenue districts—Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagara—with the aim of promoting voting literacy and road safety through a unique street play. Led by Rotarians primarily from Dakshina Kannada, the initiative covered a total distance of 997km and toured the aforementioned districts over a span of two days.

Commencing on March 31, the event was orchestrated by the public image group of Rotary. The specially curated street play has been performed at 21 different locations across the four districts, with the objective of educating and encouraging the public to responsibly exercise their voting rights.

K Vishwas Shenoy, the district chair of the public image for Rotary in Dakshina Kannada, emphasized the significance of the initiative. He highlighted that a similar exercise had been conducted during the state assembly elections last year, albeit limited to Puttur taluk. This year, however, the aim was to scale up the efforts, resulting in a plan devised within a week’s time. Maunesh Vishwakarma, a fellow Rotarian from Rotary Puttur Elite, contributed by creating the street play, with active participation from all Rotarians involved.

The “Rotary on Wheels” programme stands as a testament to Rotary District 3181’s commitment to civic engagement and community empowerment through innovative initiatives.
