SAC organises coaching programme for civil services aspirants

Mangaluru: The Department of Political Science, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) had organised a coaching programme for the civil services competitive exams (UPSC) on June 28 afternoon at the Sanidhya Hall, Administrative Block. Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil was the chief guest for the programme.

In his address, Senthil remarked that he was an average student and a perennial backbencher thus creating a relaxed atmosphere for the aspirants. While narrating the story of his life so that the aspirants could draw inspiration, strength, and motivation, Senthil informed that he had changed his IT job to work in the social development field by teaching and interacting with varieties of people. This proved inspirational to him and after four attempts, he cracked the IAS on the fifth one and secured 9th rank on All-India basis. He emphasised that UPSC exam was only a reflection of the job one is up to. Therefore he explained four important qualities citing personal examples, interest in everything; empathy for all; maintaining anonymity in the job and lastly courage.

Senthil answered the numerous queries of the students pertaining to preparation and attempts, challenges, physique, academy at Mussorie, political pressure, barriers etc., in a jovial, nonchalant and practical manner. Students and teachers admired his humility likewise.

A Value Education Book (Module I & II) “Harmony with Life: Reflection for Positive Choices” which was compiled by Dr. Rose Veera D’Souza, Department of Political Science was released during the programme

Fr. Leo D’Souza, former rector, Fr. Pradeep Sequeira, Finance Officer, Dr. Alwyn D’Sa, Director of Administration Block, Dr. Roseveera D’Souza, HoD of Political Science, and Alwin D’Souza, Convener were present.
