Mangaluru: The problem of sand may be solved shortly as Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner has informed that permission for removing sand in CRZ and non-CRZ areas will be given shortly. These permits will last for next five years.

The contractors will be allowed only manual extraction of sand. Extraction using machines will not be allowed“, he said.
Meanwhile, the DC informed about the recent tendering process for extracting sand from the non-CRZ areas, in which very few contractors had participated due to strict guidelines. He said, `the guidelines have been relaxed now to help contractors.
Earlier, contractors from local areas were allowed to participate in the tendering process, but now, even outsiders (residents of that particular taluk) can take part.
