Surathkal: P. G. Diwakar, Distinguished Scientist and Director Earth Observation and Disaster Management, ISRO, called upon graduating engineers to avail opportunities for research in earthquake prediction, rocket technology and reusable satellite launch vehicles.
Speaking at the Engineer’s day and Technology Summit at NITK, Surathkal on Sunday, he said that they can work with ISRO in these areas. A lot of new challenges offer opportunities for a lot of work to be done, and this is where the younger generation comes in.
Tremendous possibilities exist in ISRO for research by younger engineers and cost reduction by developing reusable launch vehicles is only one of them. Opportunities exist he stated, in semi cryogenic technology, modular launch systems, and similar areas. Directly as of now, he stated that ISRO is working in four dimensions of its space programme – Space Transportation, Space Infrastructure, Space Capacity Building and new Space applications. By involving themselves in the ISRO programmes, the new generation would learn from these technologies and also get involved in nation-building.
