Serial killer Cyanide Mohan convicted in another murder case

Mangaluru: The Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court convicted the serial killer Cyanide Mohan with life imprisonment in another murder case on Friday, February 22.

It is the seventh conviction out of 20 murder cases filed against him. Before declaring Cyanide Mohan Kumar guilty, Judge D TR Puttarangaswamy examined 40 witnesses, 64 documents and 35 pieces of evidences. Public Prosecutor Judith M Crata argued in favour of the prosecution.

What is the case?

Mohan Kumar met the 25-year-old victim at Wenlock Hospital accidentally. After succeeding to befriend the woman, Mohan, School teacher promised of marrying her. Later, he asked the victim to come to Puttur Bus stand on January 3, 2008 and took her to Madikeri, where he hired a room in a lodge.

After establishing physical relationship with the lady, he made her swallow cyanide in the pretext of tablets, which prevents pregnancy. After the confirmation of her death, he escaped from the spot.

* Cyanide Mohan was a school teacher and he was arrested in an attempt to murder case in the year 2002.
* He was acquitted in that case in 2003
* He has allegedly murdered 20 women in the short span of five years
* Mohan was arrested by Bantwal police on September 21, 2009
* It is the seventh case among the 20 murder cases filed against him.
* He was awarded death punishment in three murder cases and life imprisonment in the four cases.
