The SSLC exams kicked off in Dakshina Kannada district with 329 students absent on the first day. Officials reported no malpractices, ensuring smooth conduct across 88 examination centers. Out of 28,866 registered students for the first language exam, 28,537 appeared, with Bantwal accounting for 80 absentees, Belthangady 30, Mangaluru North 53, Mangaluru South 48, Moodbidri 12, Puttur 45, and Sullia 61, as confirmed by DDPI Venkatesh S Patagara.
Similarly, in Udupi district, out of 13,701 registered students, 95 were absent on the first day. Byndoor taluk saw nine absentees, Kundapur 17, Karkala 18, Brahmavar 32, and Udupi taluk 19, as stated by DDPI K Ganapathi. Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari K visited the exam center at Manipal Junior College in Udupi to oversee arrangements.
In a heartening gesture at Nittur High School, Bhagyashri, a Class 9 student, assisted a disabled peer as a scribe during the exam. Additionally, Bhavishya from Parkala English Medium High School, who was involved in an accident, received support from scribe Sthuthi Shetty to complete the exam, as reported.
