Kasargod: A woman was killed in a bus-bike collision on the National Highway near Kasargod new bus stand here on Thursday, July 23.
Raziya(26) was killed on the spot. Her husband Haneef (35) from Anangur and their son Ameen who suffered injuries have been admitted in Kasargod private hospital.
It is learnt that the collision took place due to the over-speeding bus. The accident occurred when the speeding bus heading from Neerchalu to Kasargod hit the bike. As a result, Raziya was thrown out on the road and she came under the rear wheels of the bus killing her on spot. Both the injured were immediately shifted to a hospital by locals. The enraged public hurled stones at the bus.
One group came forward and stopped all the private buses and the situation was out of control for more than an hour. Police arrived to the spot and dispersed the crowd. Haneef, working abroad had come to his native place to celebrate Eid, it is said.
City traffic police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.
