Stabbed RSS activist Sharath succumbs to injuries

Mangaluru : A RSS activist who suffered critical injuries after he was assaulted and stabbed by few persons at BC Road on July 4 night succumbed to injuries  at AJ hospital today.

The victim Sharath, a resident of Kandur in Sajipamunnur admitted to AJ hospital in Mangaluru after the incident, but his condition remained critical throughout.

Sharath was assaulted and stabbed by a group after winding up his work at the laundry shop and was about to leave for home.

This incident occurred despite the prohibitory orders being in existence in the region which has been gripped with communal tensions over the past few days.

Police have formed six teams to nab the miscreants behind the assault on RSS activist but have met with little success till date.

State Minister for Food and Civil Service U T Khader visited the hospital yesterday to verify the health condition of Sharath and had condemned the incident. After the visit, he had said, Sharath without any criminal antecedent became an innocent victim in the hands of anti-social elements.

Several BJP leaders including including MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Krishna Palemar too visited the hopsital to inquire about Sharth’s health.

When 28-year-old Sharath, an RSS worker lay in a pool of blood after being assaulted by few persons was offered help by a Muslim fellow Abdul Rahouf, to rush him to the hospital in a bid to save his life.

Abdul Rahouf , a fruit stall vendor by profession knew Sharath for nearly 14 years.
