State’s progress tardy under Congress rule: Rajnath Singh

Belthangadi: This is not the time to awaken Congress government in the state from deep slumber, said union minister of Home Rajnath Singh at a party workers’ convention here on April 23.

“When the entire nation is making fast progress, Karnataka under Congress rule is still in slumber and let that slumber last for ever”, Singh ridiculed, hinting at state’s tardy progress.

“A year after voting Congress to power in state in 2013, BJP government came to power in the centre and ensured flow of funds amounting to Rs 2.19 Lakh Crore through the 14th Finance Commission”, he said and added, “the state witnessed stunted growth due to large scale corruption”.

During both Atal and Modi’s NDA rule, the government was free of tainted ministers but under UPA the scenario was just opposite, Singh recalled.

Accusing the state government of dividing the society on caste and religion basis, Singh said, “The state is celebrating Tipu Jayanti while banning Hanuman Jayanti.”

“The NDA government does not believe in discrimination, instead in uniform development and efficient administration and time has come for the electorate in the state to root out the Congress government”, he said.

Government in power has to stay focused on nation’s development and not on dividing the society on caste lines, he reminded

CM Siddaramiah who shied away from projecting himself as a HIndu for 4 years is now remembering his Hindu past, Singh chided.

“Around 3700 farmers have died in the state in the last 4 years and efficient officers are ending lives. State has witnessed political murders and communal violence. Once BJP comes to power in Karnataka, there will not be any scope for violence on political grounds”, Singh assured.

“India is not a weak nation as it has made tremendous progress in defence and financial sectors. India is capable of silencing Pakistan and today the world recognises India’s progress and Indian economy is rated as one of the fastest growing economies by experts,” Singh said listing out union government’s achievements. The nation will be able to manufacture arms required by defence forces on its own in few years’ time, Singh said.
