Kinnigoli: In a tragic accident that happened between a tipper and a scooter on the afternoon of September 7, one student lost his life while another remains serious in the hospital.
Varshith Kotian (21), a resident of Karnad, and his friend Derick Vas (20) were on their way for lunch when their Honda Activa collided with a tipper near Pompei College at Moorukaveri. Unfortunately, Varshith was run over by the tipper as soon as he fell on the road, resulting in his immediate death.
Derick, who was riding pillion with Varshith, survived the accident but, sustained injuries and is in a serious condition at a private hospital in Mangaluru.
Varshith was a final year BBM student and Derick is a second year BBM student at Pompei College.
A case has been filed by the Mangaluru North traffic police.
