Kasaragod: Tellicherry police busted a six-member supari gang during a routine check, when they found a car moving without number plate and recovered knives and other items recently.
It is learnt that the gang conspired to kidnap a Tellicherry-based businessman after accepting supari amount of Rs 15 laks from a resident in gulf.
The accused are identified as Rashin aged 29 of Padubidri near Udupi, Mohammad Afsan aged 29, Iqbal aged 27 from Shirva, Abdul Samad aged 24, Bilal aged 18, resident near Nayabazar in Uppala and Rayees aged 25 from Kannur.
When the police intercepted the moving car without number plate they learnt of their attempt to kidnap the businessman. They had planned to kidnap the businessman and take him to Bengaluru to get few vital documents signed by him.
The police are trying to get more information from the gang members.
The investigations are led by district police chief Sanjay Kumar, DySP Prince Abraham and were busy extracting further details from the gang members on October 23.
