As part of the sixth monthly Swacch Mangaluru Abihyan, volunteers from Ramakrishna Mission took to cleaning the main post office area in Pandeshwar and Rosario Church Road on Sunday. The cleaning initiative, conducted from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., saw the active participation of students from Nitte Physiotherapy College, under the supervision of Swami Jitakamananda (Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaluru), Alfred Pinto (Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral), and Ranjan (President of Indian Medical Association, Mangaluru).

The dedicated volunteers not only cleaned the areas of Pandeshwar and Rosario but also removed illegal banners, cleared garbage, and tidied up footpaths and drains. The release from the mission highlighted the positive impact of the previous month’s abhiyan near the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where heaps of garbage have been replaced by a well-utilized space. The retention wall was painted, and young artists adorned it with Warli art, enhancing the visual appeal of the area.

Notably, the initiative also aims to raise awareness by discouraging public urination through writings on the wall. The collaborative efforts of MRPL, private bus owners, and drivers have further strengthened this commendable cleanliness initiative.
