Theft of vehicles: CCB police nab three, seize five motorcycles

Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested three persons in connection with theft of vehicles and seized five motorcycles from their possession on Sunday, January 13.

The arrested have been identified as Sayyid Afrid (19) son of Abdul Gafoor, Mohammed Safwan (19), son of Hasan Sali and Mohammed Gouse (20), son of Ahmed Shareef, all are the residents of Kasba Bengre. Among the accused, Afrid has a pending case pertaining to murder attempt at Panambur police station and Safwan has pending cases at Mangaluru South and Panambur police station, relating to theft.

Police sources informed that the accused were arrested when they were plying in a motorcycle, which had no number plate. When police waylaid the motorcycle and questioned them, they confessed of theft. Later, they showed stolen motorcycles to police. The worth of the seized motorcycles is estimated around Rs 1.58 lakh.
