Three dead, three injured in tragic accident on NH 275

Sullia: Three people were killed and three others were injured when a car collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus on the Mani-Mysuru National Highway at Mavinakkatte of the Sullia Taluk’s Jalsur village on Friday, October 11 evening.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Sadiq (31), a resident of Puttur’s Kabaka village, Majid (32), a resident of Kedila Kampa of the Bantwal taluk and Sunaina (16).

The injured are Salvin Farik (10), Mahmoud Jakuana (14) and Abubakkar (40).

It is learnt that the bus was plying from Kasargod to Sullia while the Innova was travelling from Sullia to Puttur when the accident occurred.

Sadiq and Majid died on the spot while Sunaina died on the way to the hospital. The injured were taken to Sullia KVG Medical College for treatment.

Two of those who died in the accident, Sadiq and Majid, were engaged. All the six occupants of the car were returning after giving wedding invitations to their relatives.

Sullia Circle Inspector Satish Kumar and SI M R Harish visited the spot for the preliminary investigation. A case has been registered by the Sullia police in this regard.

This is the second fatal accident to occur in the area along the same route. Just last week, four people lost their lives when a car and lorry collided. The deceased were from Kodagu.
