Kasargod: The body of woman who went missing during train journey was found among the shrubs near Barkur railway station near Udupi.
The deceased has been identified as Chalakkavara Ajita, aged 40, a permanent resident of Thrissur.
A family consisting two children residing at Thane in Maharashtra were returning to Thrissur. When the husband and the children reached Trichur on Monday morning they realized that Ajita was missing though her valuables were found intact. Entire family was travelling from Mumbai to Thrissur on Mangala Express and all of them had dinner together at Madgaon in Goa on Sunday night where usually the train stops.
Locals staying near the railway line found the body lying in the shrubs and informed police. Reports suggest multiple head injuries with a scarf near the neck. However the exact reason for the death is not known though some people feel she might have been tortured before death.
