Mangaluru: With tension escalating around Tipu Jayanthi celebrations, the Dakshina Kannada district administration too has slammed prohibitory order in the district from 6 am on November 9 to 6 pm on November 12. Public meetings, processions and rallies are banned during this period.
In an order issued on Tuesday November 8, Dr K G Jagadeesh, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district stated that the precautionary measures have been put in place to ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the celebrations.
He said that making statements or speeches that hurt religious sentiments will not be allowed and possession of weapons or explosives, stones etc too have been prohibited.
“Sloganeering which may spark communal unrest or circulation of images, pamphlets or any such act that weaken public security are banned,” he said adding that the order exempts government programmes, wedding and other private events.
