Mangaluru: In a horrifying incident, a car accident occurred on the side of a road in Mangalore, resulting in the tragic death of a young woman and severe injuries to four others. The accident took place at around 4 PM near the Mahanagarapalike Swimming Pool in Mannagudda.
The deceased victim is identified as Rupashri, a 23-year-old resident of Surathkal. The injured individuals are identified as Swathi (26), Hitanvi (16), Krithika (16), and Yathika (12).
The incident unfolded when a group of four women, including the deceased, were walking along the pedestrian road near Mannagudda to visit the Kadri temple. At that very moment, a speeding Hyundai Eon car driven by a man named Kamalesh Baldev rammed into the group, causing severe injuries to the pedestrians. Later, he took the car and made his way back to the house returning with his father Baladev to the Police Station.
A security guard was standing near the front part of a building during the incident. Simultaneously, the group of four young women were walking on the pedestrian path leading towards the building, staying within their lane.
The car came at a high speed and hit the group of young women, causing one woman’s death and severe injuries to the others. The car driver drove further. The incident was captured on video and shows the car speeding, hitting the group, and continuing ahead.
Mangalore police officers arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the accident. The injured individuals were quickly rushed to a medical facility for treatment, and the deceased woman’s body was taken for post-mortem examination. The car driver has been taken into custody for further legal procedures. This tragic incident shook the Mannagudda area and has raised concerns about road safety and responsible driving.
