Mangaluru: Hours after union government launched GST in the country, UT Khader, State minister for Food and Civil Supplies said that the BJP led union government has not given pro-people programmes over the last three years.
Terming the launch of GST during the midnight in Parliament as a political gimmick, he said that when the UPA was at the center it has given various programmes like Right to Information (RTI), Right to Education(RTE), the National Food Security Act and the likes but the BJP government failed to give good programms to poor and middle class in the country.
“The GST is Uniform Taxation policy and not an Act. What was the need to launch the programme during the midnight? The BJP is involved in political marketing, keeping people in illusion.
Speaking on Indira Canteen, Khader said that state government will launch the project in all the 198 wards of the BBMP on August 15. “Each ward will get one canteen and this will be model in the country as nearly 1,80,000 lac people will benefit from this programme,” he said.
On Anila Bhagya, he said that State government will provide free gas cylinder and stove under Anila Bhagya to all BPL families in the state. Under Ujjwal Yojana of the Union government, beneficiaries would get only gas cylinder, hence the state government has decided to give gas stove along with gas cylinder. “It is up to people to decide which programme they want toapply. Government is committed to provide gas connection to all BPL families under Anila Bhagya programme,” he said.
