Mangaluru: Justice Vishwanath Shetty of the Karnataka Lokayukta has ordered officials in Dakshina Kannada District to work as quickly as possible to bring the Covid-19 outbreak under control.
Shetty said at a review meeting on various Lokayukta issues at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat here on Monday November 15 that the remaining 10 per cent of the target population should be identified as soon as possible and brought under vaccine cover within 15-20 days.
In Dakshina Kannada, the vaccination drive has reached 90 per cent of the target population for the first dose.
“It will be difficult for the country to thrive economically if we are not free of the Covid-19 pandemic.” There are no shortages of vaccines, and there are no side effects. As a result, people must realise that they are accountable not just for the health of their families, but also for the health of society,” he added.
He also urged the Zilla Panchayat CEO to submit a report.
Malleswamy, the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), informed that attendance in classes 1 to 5 was 51 per cent, 69 per cent in classes 6 to 8, and 81 per cent in classes 9 to 10. He said the district has 210 children who have lost both parents, including five who have lost both parents.
The Lokayukta ordered the officials to distribute the government’s ex-gratia as soon as possible.
The DDPI added that the District has identified 2,467 physically challenged children for vaccination. A vaccination drive will be held after the stock arrives.
