Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP underscored the importance of voting rights and each individual’s role in the electoral process while inaugurating a voter awareness drive in Mangaluru. The event marked the commencement of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in Dakshina Kannada, organized jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat, Mangaluru City Corporation, and Mangalore University College.

Addressing students, the deputy commissioner urged youth to exercise their voting rights responsibly, emphasizing that a strong democracy relies on active participation in elections. He highlighted the significant manpower involved in the electoral process, with around 18,000 government officials and staff deployed across 1,876 polling booths in the district.

Zilla panchayat CEO and district nodal officer for SVEEP, Anandh K, assured the provision of necessary facilities at polling stations, including drinking water, wheelchair accessibility, electricity, and toilets. He also introduced the cVIGIL app for reporting any issues encountered at polling stations.

Tulu actor Aravind Bolar, serving as the poll ambassador for the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, encouraged students to mobilize their families, neighbors, and acquaintances to participate in the voting process. The event also featured a cartoon exhibition by artist John Chandran, highlighting the importance of voting in a democracy. Additionally, a Yakshagana performance by Girish Navada and his team focused on voter awareness, accompanied by a walkathon organized in the city to further promote electoral participation.
