Mangaluru: Sarojamma, an aged woman was denied treatment here at a government hospital here on Friday.
The woman is said to have been accompanied by her sister’s son Subramanya.
The woman was ill and had come to the hospital for treatment. But as the hospital demanded money, her nephew went to the DC to inform him about this as they could not afford to spend such an amount. The DC in turn asked the DMO to provide her the treatment.
But when they went to the hospital an employee reportedly assaulted her son and told them to take back the DCs letter.
Following this, they contacted Tulunada Rakshana Vedike. President of the Vedike, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, speaking to News Karnataka said that after looking at the situation, they went to the Pandeshwar police station to file the complaint.
When the Vedike members threatened to protest, the police convinced them and called the DMO to have her admitted and provide her the necessary treatment immediately.
Vedike members after having admitted her to the hospital have withdrawn protest.
