Mangaluru: A 23-year-old woman, identified as Fatima Rukia, reportedly drowned her 4-month-old son in a tub before taking her own life by hanging at their residence in Gujjarakere.
Fatima, married to Dr. Muhammad Unais for the past one-and-a-half years, had been grappling with depression following the birth of her child. The distressing incident unfolded on December 2, between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, when Fatima was alone at home with her infant.
The tragic episode has left the community in shock, prompting an investigation by the Mangaluru South police. It is reported that Fatima was undergoing treatment for depression, shedding light on the urgent need for mental health awareness and support.
