Moodbidri: A 25-year-old youth murdered a 22-year-old woman and then committed suicide by hanging himself, at Pranthya near Moodbidri on Friday, September 28.
The deceased youth has been identified as Rohith of Bajal and the woman who was murdered by him is Charishma. Sources from Moodbidri police station said, Rohith was a distant relative of Charishma and he use to visit her house occasionally. On Friday, September 28, Rohith entered the house of Charishma when her mother and brother were out and soon a quarrel had errupted between the two for unknown reason. In a fit of rage Rohith is said to have assaulted Charishma with a sickle. When Charishma raised alarm and neighbours ran to her rescue, a frightened Rohith hanged himself inside the same house.
Though, Charishma was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared her brought dead. The exact reason for the incident is yet to be known.
Moodbidri police visited the spot and registered a case in this regard and investigating.
