Bantwal: A youth died when a speeding KSRTC bus crushed him to death on the national highway near Manihalla in Bantwal Taluk on October 4.
Sushanth Rai, aged 30, son of Janaradhan Rai resident of Kodenjaru in Pilathbettu village limits is the deceased.
The accident occurred when the Sushanth was on his way to Dharmasthala from Bantwal when the bus coming in the opposite direction ran over him. Gravely injured Sushanth succumbed on the way to the hospital. It is learnt that over speeding of the bus was the prime reason for the accident.
Locals blocked the traffic on the highway and tension prevailed at the accident site. Police officials from rural and traffic police stations rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and cleared the traffic.
Sushanth was originally a resident of Sakleshpur, employed in Hindustan Soaps Private Limited was recently married and his wife is pregnant. A pall of gloom descended on the house soon after family members heard about his death.
