Udupi: The CID team investigating in to the sensational Bhasker Shetty murder case has filed a 1300 page charge sheet, comprising of 147 documents. There are over 174 witnesses and statements of 80 persons recorded in connection to the case.

M Shantharam Shetty appointed Special Public Prosecutor in Bhasker Shetty murder case-1It is said that Bhasker Shetty and his wife Rajeshwari Shetty suspected their fidelity. On his return from the Middle East, it is said that Bhasker Shetty had found lewd messages on Rajeshwari’s mobile due to which he had confiscated her mobile. Following this the two used to have heated arguments. While Bhasker Shetty suspected that Rajeshwari was having an affair with an astrologer named Niranjan Bhat (one of the accused in the murder case), Rajeshwari had played her cards by convincing her son Navaneeth (one of the accused in the case) that his father Bhasker Shetty was having multiple affairs.

Without much of thought, Navaneeth had started misbehaving and ill-treating his father and recently, before Shetty was charred to death by Mother-son-astrologer trio, Navaneeth had reportedly placed a voice recorder in the hotel room where his father was put up, after leaving their house in Indrali.

As per the charge sheet, Bhasker Shetty had warned Niranjan Bhat to stay out of his family issues. But, it was too late as this self-proclaimed astrologer had gained the trust of Rajeshwari and Navaneeth. He had convinced Rajeshwari to divorce Shetty. But, when there were apprehensions over getting share in Shetty’s property, the trio hatched a murder plot. With Shetty deciding to write off all his property in his mother Gulabi Shetty’s name further raged the trio.

It is said that on July 27, the trio met up on the Krishna Mutt premises and finalised the plan.

It may be recalled that a wealthy businessman from UAE named Bhasker Shetty had gone missing from his residence in Indrali, Udupi on July 28. In turn of events, it was later found that his wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth had charred him to death with the help of astrologer Niranjan Bhat and others in a holy pyre (Homa Kunda).
