Udupi: The District All Muslim Community Paryaya Sauharda Committee came forward to offer the “‘Hore Kanike” on the occasion of Paryaya festival of Sri Sri Vishwadeesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Matt here on January 12.
Speaking to media persons, Aboobaker, President of Muslim Sauharda Committee, said that people in the district should reside in religious harmony with each other, thereby creating an atmosphere of peace.
Further, he mentioned that the Paryaya Sauharda Committee had distributed over 5000 units of butter milk among the people during the procession on Paryaya Swamiji’s “Purapravesha” held in Udupi last week.
“We offered large quantities of vegetables, rice, sugar, various types of lentils, jaggery, coconut, etc., as Hore Kanike. The Muslim communities will be organising the Gorakshana Abhiyana next week and a blood donation camp will be held on January 16”, he said.
“During the previous Paryaya too we had offered as well as distributed the buttur milk to the devotees. We want communal harmony in our district”, he added.
The Hore Kanike procession started from Jodukatte, near Big Bazar here with tableau and chende through the court road, Diana Circle, K M Marg and culminated at Rathabeedhi at Krishna Matt.
Amzad Hejmady, Committee Secretary, Ansar Ahmed, Committee Vice President, Mohammed Arif, Treasurer, Sadiq and other members were present.
