Karkala :A headmaster of the Government High School, Sooda Pernal was detained for questioning by the Karkala Rural Police on Tuesday August 5 night following a complaint with the Chief Minister accusing the former of sexually harassing students.
It is learnt, the police action followed a letter from the office of the Chief Minister to the SP seeking action against the headmaster named Rithesh Shetty. Sources said earlier Shibani and Prem had faxed a complaint to the Chief Minister against the headmaster alleging that he was sexually abusing students.
Sources said the police questioned the headmaster if he was abusing the students physically on the pretext of punishment.
Police personnel also visited the school on Wednesday August 6 and enquired about the headmaster.
The whereabouts of the complainants is not known. The headmaster has been released upon furnishing a bond.
Karkala Rural Inspector Mahadeva Shetty said no formal complaint has been lodged against the headmaster by anyone so far.
