Karkala: A 27-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling of a room at her in-laws’ residence. The incident, which took place on Friday night at Bailooru here, came to light on Saturday morning.
The deceased is identified as Rubina, wife of Asif, who works in Dubai.
Rubina’s immediate family members have alleged that she has been murdered.
According to sources, at around 10.30 pm on Friday, Asif’s brother called Rubina’s brother and informed him that she had committed suicide. Rubina’s parents and brother alleged that it cannot be a case of suicide as her feet were touching the floor and her fists were open. It is alleged that Rubina’s in-laws were harassing her for dowry. She had complained regarding this to her parents. Hence, her brother had promised her that he would take her back home on Sunday. Her parents said that Rubina would not commit suicide after knowing that she would be taken back to her parental house.
Based on a complaint, the local police detained Rubina’s mother in-law and sister in-law for questioning.
Her body was shifted to a private hospital for autopsy.
